Overview

The purpose of the job is to assist in delivering property services to our transportation and utility clients and, assisting colleagues in all aspects of skills delivery and client development.
There will be opportunities to deliver compulsory purchase, access to land, land referencing, collation of property information, valuation and professional skills to a range of clients managed with the wider Gloucester team.
The job will require someone who is seeking full membership of the RICS and holds an appropriate fully accredited qualification to undertake the APC training. You will assist in providing advice in a wide variety of commercial property matters for new and established clients. The position will entail extensive travel within the South West so a clean driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

A Degree in a relevant discipline.

  • Support delivery of the business plan including delivery of agreed targets.
  • Assist in the delivery of agreed financial targets and move to being responsible for managing own performance whilst being effective in core technical skills.
  • To attend training sessions and team meetings.
  • To support other BK offices as required.

Job Description

To be part of a team delivering commercial valuations and professional advice, to a variety of private and public sector clients.
Our Client has a strong client base in the Financial, Commercial, Public, Charities and Private Client Sectors, for whom we provide a range of Red Book and other valuations and professional advice.
The Plymouth team operates throughout Devon and Cornwall working closely with our other South West Offices. We are also regularly required to assist on major projects further afield.
Our Client is looking for applications from qualified surveyors who are registered valuers. Depending on skills and experience this position can be secured at a recently qualified level up to a senior appointment.
Working closely with an established team in the Plymouth office you will already have experience of providing valuation advice on various property types to a range of clients.
The opportunity will suit a candidate looking to focus on professional valuation work and will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to become involved in all stages of complex portfolio valuations.
A good working knowledge of IT (particularly Excel, Argus Developer and Enterprise) is essential.

Qualifications

Fully qualified Chartered Surveyor and a RICS Registered Valuer.

Responsibilities 

  • Carrying out valuations of commercial properties, including development schemes, for secured lending, accounting, taxation, Charity Act and Trust purposes.

Overview

The purpose of the role is to deliver the whole spectrum of building consultancy services to a varied range of commercial clients across Wales and the wider UK.
  • A willingness to undertake local and firm-wide business development initiatives, and increase develop the building consultancy service delivered from our Cardiff Office.
  • Pro-active with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • High level of attention to detail and an enquiring mind.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria:
  • Pre-acquisition Building Surveys and Schedules of Condition.
  • A good working knowledge of IT is essential, in particular a familiarity with Microsoft Office packages and CAD.
  • A full driving licence is essential.
  • Planning and Building Regulation application familiarity.
  • Experience in the design and refurbishment of buildings and administration of Building Contracts.
  • Defect Analysis – Identifying & analysing building pathology, preparing technical reports.
  • Party Wall etc. Act 1996 experience.
  • Reinstatement costs assessments.
  • Experience in health and safety procedures, CDM and DDA.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload. 
Responsibilities
The role will be to assist in the promotion and development of the Cardiff Building Consultancy Team, whilst supporting the activities of the Cardiff Commercial Team, and wider Firm, in achieving targeted fee income and will include:
  • Preparing specifications, tendering and providing contract administration services.
  • Preparing technical drawings on Auto CAD for project instructions.
  • Requisite statutory approval applications.
  • Project monitoring services on behalf of lenders for various construction projects.
  • Preparing feasibility studies and sketch scheme designs for a wide variety of building types.
  • Preparing Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules.
  • Preparing and negotiating schedules of dilapidations.
  • Preparing schedules of condition.
  • Preparing Party Wall etc. Act 1996 notices and agreeing Awards.
  • Professional work as designated according to experience.
  • Providing support for more junior members of the team.
  • Development of the existing Client base and new Client instructions.
  • Positive promotion of the BK brand and Building Consultancy offering via network and business development activities.
  • Compliance with Company standards and procedures.
